Cook Sign Services gives a Middle America HDU sign a coastal feel.
Cook Sign Services (Marquette, MI) helped this Marquette eatery adopt a decidedly coastal aura thanks to its unique exterior signage. Using Henry Taylor (Sheffield, England) carving chisels and gouges, Cook fabricators handcrafted the 3 x 10-ft. sign from 15-lb. HDU with ½-in.-thick MDO to provide reinforcement. They painted the sign with Jay Cooke’s Sign Primer and Benjamin Moore exterior-grade, latex paint.  Where does this sign call home? South Beach? Sausalito? Think again -- Marquette, MI. Marquette's Cook Sign Services fabricated this unique sign -- even its "mosaic tiles" -- from HDU and decorated it with Jay Coooke's sign primer and exterior-latex paint. To affix the compass rose and secondary banner to the main panel, the fabrication team installed two, ¾-in.-thick, MDO strips that run along the back of the main sign. The Cook team installed the sign to the building using angle iron and eyelets to lift the sign into place and subsequently drop it into corresponding, pre-drilled holes. Installers spun two nuts into the eyelets to attach the sign panel.  To bond the compass and banner to the main panel, installers backed the sign with PVC strips and manuevered it with angle iron and eyelets into pre-drilled holes. To accent L’Attitude’s handsome new sign, Taylor cut “mosaic tiles” from HDU, which he sanded and primed, painted with 1Shot® lettering enamel and attached with silicone. Cook subcontracted a local electrician to devise and install overhead, gooseneck lighting with 150W, halogen bulbs.
