Thanks! I agree that wet application has its place, but there are many who use it as a crutch and in some difficult applications such as complex curves it actually makes life more difficult. My old boss and I were always arguing over it.
I just purchased the 24" speed press. I have yet to use it but when I do I will let you know. By the way, the unit cost me $400. Lets see if its worth it. What i dont get is how to get the app tape off without taking it out of the frame. If anyone has some insights Id love to hear.
I have used the speed press system for over 5 years now and it is well worth the money. We get over fifty uses of the tape sometimes. Add that one up. We have discovered that if you clean it off with a splash (gasp not rapid tac!) mixture and get most of the dirt off it really extends the life of the tape. Just be careful of cutting the vinyl too deep because it is ten times harder to get it to release from the backing paper.
I bought a speedpress at the isa long beach show a month or so back and I absolutely love it. It makes multi color jobs much easier, and its nice not to have a ball of wasted transfer tape lying around.
I got three different size frames, three rolls of tape, and the tools to apply for $350 and I couldn't be happier!

It is a great system. In the long run you will get your money back in the reduced amount of transfer tape. Not to mention it is alot faster once you get the hang of it. From what I've heard....You can build your own, but i don't think you can get the sticky tape anywhere but thru speed press. And if you do a search on this forum, I think you will find it is the case.
But of course there are some that will argue with that, but that is their nature. Be careful not to use the term "wet application" on this forum, it seems to get some in a fit of rage and meds have to be taken.
