Quality and professionalism

As of June 28, 2010 I am actively looking for a quality sign company who merits my qualities.
Looking for a company that is looking for quality installers. I pride myself on doing an install job right the first time. I can relocate for the right company and for the right price. I have all the necessary hand tools plus a Hilti cordless driver/hammer drill I use. I have worked as a metal building repair technician and know my way around repairing any holes that the sign requires. I don’t mind working out of town but I do require a few things if that is the case. I am doing a job for you and if I have a helper I don’t want to have to look at him/her after we get done for the day so I do require my own hotel room. I am not at home so this common courtesy isn’t as bad as it sounds. You are at home every night and I am not so I do want my privacy.
I am familiar with the following signs; Monument, Pylon, LED’s (various types), Wall signs, Channel Letters, Pin mounts, Hanging signs, Raceways, ID signs, Custom signs, Foam signs though I don’t recommend them, pretty much everything. I am not afraid of heights and am able to perform my duties with style and quality. As long as I have a time limit I will be done by that time barring any problems that may arise and they do.
I do the job to the best of my ability and always strive to be the best. I don’t claim to be the best like all the others but I do try and I don’t go back because when I leave a job it is complete and signed off. I always pass my inspections and get along well with inspectors. I have even passed where others failed because they wanted to cut corners and didn’t expect the inspector to check what they cut corners on. I don’t cut corners unless it is imperative to installing which maybe happens once a year.
I am well motivated and very familiar with the term common sense, which applies to all signs and jobs. I do have a Class “B” CDL and even had the pleasure of driving a 2006 International 4300 DT466 with a 55’ Elliott crane for a couple of years. I took it home and pressure washed it every weekend and cleaned the cab and it looked better when I turned it in than when I got it. As long as I have the right equipment and the right power tools I can do most jobs myself. Helpers are all right but sometimes they just aggravate you and get in the way.
I do smoke (cigarettes) one of my few vices and I don’t drink. I will never come in with a hangover like a lot of the installers I know. As the owner of a CDL I am not allowed to drink within 24 hours of getting behind the wheel. I take pride in my license and plan on keeping it forever. If I need a tool and don’t have I will find it and buy it by the time I get to the job. I don’t have a problem buying tools that make my money.
Just give me my signs and we will talk over the details of the plans and make sure I have the proper permits and I am on my way. I do require a laptop with a wireless internet card with 24/7 access and a digital camera because trying to explain certain situations over a phone is harder than e-mailing you pics so you can see what I am talking about. When I leave the job I have already e-mailed all the photo’s and called to make sure you have received them before I leave.
I also have started making up photo surveys that I send before I leave the job so you can let me know if there are any specific measurements I may not have gotten that you need. I do have an intelligent mind and can troubleshoot almost all problems and I call and make sure to verify that what I need to do to get the job is doable. If the client requests a change I call and we talk it over and I get the client to sign off on the change he so requested.
I don’t ask for much and I do the company proud. I have gotten requests from clients who had multiple signs going up because they like what I do and how I do it. Pride in my work and quality with the installs is what I offer. If you are in the market for someone like me e-mail me at knightwarp@earthlink.net and we can discuss the details at that time.
Thank You for your time and I hope I can do you proud to call me one of your best installers.
Sincerely,
Terrence Astleford
I have many pictures from installs I have done that I can send via cd through mail along with a letter of recommendation and a resume.

SignProFL says: I am still looking for that elusive sign company. By the replies I got I must admit, there may not be as many honorable sign companies left. Or am I wrong? Just an opinion. posted on: Mon, 09/06/2010 - 4:29am

Your description almost comes off as a rant.A lot of your information is useful just is more the kind of thing that you should discuss during an interview. Most of it is common knowledge in the industry and/or things one would take for granted as a professional installer. You do sound like you know the buis. but that you have an attitude that you should keep to yourself.I honestly am not trying to bash you in any way at all.Just letting you know how it sounds when I read it.There seems to be a lot of jobs in FL., N.C.TX AND Maryland aso Im sure you will find something being willing to relocate.I myself am stuck in Ohio and cannot relocate at this time and there seems to be few jobs here.Good Luck
