Anyone Know where I can find a small transformer like the ones found in the pictures. I had a customer bring in a James Dean. That has a 3,000V. very small Approx-L.4"Xw2"Xh1.5". Any Info would be greatly Appreciated. the transformers on/off switch is inline with the power cord.
I'll advise the use against TFT anytime. Call Tech 22 in Vista CA. They specialize in micro transformers. They are widely used for casino's all around the country.

I think I have to correct my statement and thanks for bringing it up. It's been a while since I've used them but here is what my problem was with them in the past. TFT may have changed more for the better in recent times but my experience was and especially in the self contained channel letters. I was replacing them like a mother, always TFT and after a couple of years their getting replaced. I can't tell you how many were just TFT. For a couple years I used a lot for my window neon signs, the pullchain electronic. Alot of times months after an install i'm having to replace them with another brand. I've also had a few neon guys tell me the frequency or something to that effect, and it could be all electronic transformers make the mercury tubes go black.
My experience has been, anything other than TFT is a upgrade. But again, it's been years and things may have changed.
Neon tubes can be repaired. The cost depends on several things, but generally a repair is going to cost less (sometimes much less) than making the tube new, especially if there are a lot of bends in the original tube. I believe it's safe to say that most neon shops today will not repair mercury tubes, but there are some that will.
