How to photograph neon lights at night?

Hello There,

I would like to say that, I want to photograph this really cool little hot dog stand at night, but their sign is really bright neon. I've tried a few different things, but I'm struggling to get enough light from the stand into the camera without the neon lights becoming unreadable.
