Hello,
I have a promotional marlboro moving message led display. I cannot find a manufacturer anywhere on it. All it says is "MOVING MESSAGE" on the inside panel and has no model number on it. It has a keyboard port in the form of a male db9 connector. It looks like a 3-wire protocol with 5v and gnd supplied as well. Could it be a standard AT keyboard? I do not have the keyboard that came with it. If anyone has any information on programming this it would be appreciated. ie. scan codes for start/stop, prog, fade, wipe.... Its based on the intel 8049 and has 512k epprom socketed.
Thanks,
Elliot
I also got a Marlboro promo sign. It also did not come with a keyboard or a manual . I also did not find any manufacturer or model number. I called up Philip Morris the young woman had no idea what I was talking about and asked me seven times(yes I did count) what the manufacturer’s name was.
The Marlboro promo sign is a "Moving Message" led sign. I have the manual available for $10.00 to cover printing and postage. I had a link to where the keypad can be purchased, but I`ll need to find it in the maze of links I have saved. When I find it I`ll email the link to you. "00"
I would be interested in purchasing your manual for the Marlboro sign. I have a keypad but need the manual. $10 if fair for me, I am in Arizona and can be reached at 480-987-9524 if you still have it for sale. Today is Nov. 9, 2005 and if you could call as soon as you can I would appreicate it. Carl
I have three of these "Moving Message" LED sign boards and one power adapter. One of them is programmed, one says (Start) and the other just spits out garbage. I know they match the description of the Marlboro signs because they are also based on the 8049 Intel chip and they have the DB-9 male port on the side with "Keyboard Input" label. Does anyone know if this is a serial port that I can interface with a computer via a null modem cable through RS-232 or RS-485 connectors or is this a proprietary type of keypad?
thanks!
Jay
