Litek led sign need help

I work for the Chamber of Commerce and we were given 5 Litek Model ISA 4008 LED signs when our local Kroger Store closed. I have the signs, power sources and even contacted a company called Optec Displays and told them wha I had and they sold me a users manual and a software called EDALL. I havce had 2 different very computer literate not sign specialists try to get these working but to no avail. All they will do is turn on give a sign ID number then two dots will flash on the end. I really am desperate to get these signs working and would appreciate any advice that anyone may have even sending them to be worked on if it looks feasible. I am in Illinois. Just a note that these signs did work when they were taken down it looks like they were set up to a modem to be programmed from a distant location there was no on site control of the signs.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Mark Mikenas

Hello,
you are correct about the signs being controlled from a modem. i talked with a company called Valassis Marketing that used to send these signs messages. The man there told me they sold the company 4 or 5 years ago. if you find a way to program them let me know if i find one i will contact you. thanks Lee

Anonymous says: Do you have more info you can share about programming them in hyper terminal? What are the settings and speed used? Is there a control set to send the message to the sign or what? Thanks, Nick posted on: Wed, 06/23/2004 - 1:23am

I have a Litek LMR 2002 that I am trying to program. Mine comes up and asks for a pass word (yes, with the space).I looked inside and found a 3.6v ni-cad battery, disconnected it for a while and it still wants a password. I don't know about programming it with HyperTerm since it does not have a UART or line drivers or anything else that looks like standard RS-232 circuitry.
Mine is Z80 based.
