I am looking for Windows based sodtware for this sign i have. If anyone has ever heard of it could they please let me know. As far as i can tell the sign was made in Canada and was used by a company called "Recomm"
From what I understand they would sell the boards to companies, and they
sold quite a few right across Canada, for a few thousand dollars each. Part
of the package was that Recomm did the programming and the different
companies would let them know what they wanted to go on the boards,
graphics, text, animation, and pay them for their service. Then what the
companies would do is use the boards to advertise products they sold or delt
with in their stores, in turn the companies that owned the products would
pay the stores or the ones who owned the boards so much to advertise their
products --- so everyone made money.
This setup is pretty affordable at $65:

Posted on my website at www.eXotic-Lighting.com/red_sign is a download of a .zip that can be used to create a show disk. also, there is a manual for programming the shows, which is updated from one that I found online. It includes a number of things i have figured out about the jvff.exe program the sign runs including the ZOOM command which took a full day of experimentation to crack the format.
I have recently found out some very valuable information about programming this sign. I was given this web page in regards of the 2010 sign.

This software allows you to create your messages on any computer using windows software. Once you have created it you download it to a floppy disk and put it in your sign. You can Draw pictures with your mouse but you can NOT download images and have them converted.
The big downfall i see is this. It cost 399.00 dollars american!
and based on my conversation with them it requires a unlock code to use it.
I have one of those signs 2010-a serial 13 077 they were build in
Montréal by J.V.F. inc. a company that no longer exist all we need is that 3 1/2 floppy somebody most still have one. we lost it Looking for it.....
Well, if anyone is still on this board...
I got two boards recently, JVF brand, made in Candada, Rexamm, all the same deals. A pharmacy didn't wan them anymore, so I took them. Both of them still have the 3.5 floppy with them, and both of them display information. I'm working on reading the programming and trying to figure out what it does so I can try some of my own stuff. What appears to be the case is the display reads a program from the disk, which links to other files telling it what to display. Gonna' be working with it, but wish I had software. E-mail me if ya need a disk or something...I can send you a copy of the files.

You may have run across these guys...
http://216.36.145.89/php3/ledsign/
...they have hacked some kind of Linux-based web front-end for your JVF/Recomm sign. You can type text into a form through a browser and it is displayed on the sign (which in turn is displayed back to you through a web cam. Ingenious. Pointless. And they won't answer my emails.
I have a Recomm sign as well and am looking for software to program it; so far nothing but very cold trails. If anybody runs across anything, could you let us know about it? I'll do the same.
Best Regards,
Chad
