From research, I have found that the range of a full time estimator's salary is $46k-$58k.
Can those members of this forum confirm this is a fair range?
Also - what size was your firm (in terms of gross revenue) when you decided to hire an estimator? Did you start with a full-time estimator or part-time?
Finally, did the hire of an estimator prove to be a prudent business decision -- how long did it take for this person to begin covering his/her costs.

For reference, we are an architectural signage and display company located in Northern California. The owner currently manages estimating and we feel ready to hire someone for this job.
