Sheet Metal Worker

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sheet Metal Worker will be responsible for working with a team within a cell manufacturing environment. The Sheet Metal Worker will fabricate, assemble and repair sheet metal products such as Pylon signs, Monument signs, wall cabinets, directional signs and other custom signage as assigned. The work will involve any of the following; setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, roll and straighten sheet metal; Must be able to use standard hand & power tools, operate soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal & aluminum parts, inspecting, assembling and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. By utilizing expert troubleshooting knowledge and technically skilled knowledge, the Sheet Metal Worker strives for higher quality standards each and every project while learning and developing their skills with assistant fabricators assigned to their team.
The Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for the quality, safety and ON TIME DELIVERY of items in and out of their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Receives routed work schedule and organizes team schedule to accommodate completion/ship date and follow project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences and required methods and materials, according to blueprints/engineering drawings/design drawings and written or verbal communication
• Works with other fabricators within a cell manufacturing environment while being held accountable for success and non-successful events in which involved
• Read and understand blueprints & design drawings into shop drawings to be followed in the construction and assembly of sheet metal products
• Lay out, measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on material according to drawings or templates by way of utilizing calculators, scribes, dividers, squares and rulers. Follow layout patterns that use materials most efficiently, using computerized metalworking equipment to experiment with different layouts (Future)
• Must help the team troubleshoot any “grey area” type fabrication issues
• Must be presentable and possess the ability to speak with the team and other department in order to build relationships and to communicate status and recommendations
• Be thorough and accurate when filling out all paperwork pertaining to the specific job.
• Correct time allocation of your time and material to each project worked on
• Be responsible for maintaining your assigned equipment, inventory and tools.
• Be able to work overtime and/or on call as workload and emergency issues dictate.
• Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts and rivets while fastening seams and joints together with welds, bolts, adhesive (pre-qualified), rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips and bonds in order to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items
• Must be able to trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces, seams and joints of assembled parts, using tools and portable power tools to bring to a finished quality.
• Inspect individual parts, assemblies for conformance to specifications and building codes, using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales and micrometers
• Must maintain equipment, making repairs and modifications when approved and necessary

• Must have the ability to work with all team members assigned, department leads and Plant Manager, as well as maintain schedules.
