Hey, 'boots. In Kansas City, I'm paying 20.00 - 22.00 per hour. I'm pretty easy to work for and I take good care of my guys. The union shops are paying a little bit more, but they drive the signhangers like rented mules.
There are a couple of shops paying less, about 12 to 15 bucks, but they have a hard time getting anybody, and they have lots of problems.
Me, I work about 80 hours a week and I average about four bucks an hour on good weeks.
Well well well...... in my experience each region has it's own wage rates.
For most South Eastern states, they are indeed the lowest paid. Anywhere from 14 to 22.
The mid atlantic is anywhere from 16 to 25.
The north east is anywhere from 18 - 30
The mid west is anywhere from 16 to 25
The west coast is anywhere from 18 to 36
NCCO, AWS, Electrical, and other certifications and licenses always will get an installer more per hour.
None of these take into account Davis bacon or local prevailing wage rules for federal or state funded work......If you are not a union shop but are working on these jobs it's likely (depending on the classification of work) the installers will be at ironworkers or carpenter rates....... which equates to 50 plus an hour.
And like Bonehead, who is quite a bonehead ;~), I make about 4 bucks an hour too.
