Variable volt trans.

Tryin to see if anyone has any feedback, good or bad,on the france and allanson multi volt or variable volt trnsformers.Would like to be able to downsize stock on our trucks but i was involved in some early product testing,4-5yrs back and the failure rate was horrendous. Am hoping this has all been ironed out,but before we commit ...would appreciate any feedback

hello
we use that type of transformers and the only thing that you need to do is to make sure that you wire them as a mid-point and ballance your load, the other thing is load the transformes at 80% of there total voltage example if your job calls for a 9000 trans then you would use a 10.500 or 12000 depending on the make and you will have a longer lasting transformer we use a accusizer made by Actown years ago but you can get a milliamp meter and get the same results. if you have a accusizer you can hook up a 12000 or 15000 trans turn it to 120v and 30ma and see that the transformer is only producing 11.500 volt on a 12000 and 14.300 on a 15000.we have use all the transformer that are made for our industry, the companys that we work for spec out the types they want.

good luck
