Thanx guys. sounds good to me. anything less than 60 days is good for me. i will turn in this bid and give them a shot.
at this point i don't care if they are making their signs in mexico. any place is better than china. we made a decision not to buy anything made in china about three years ago unless it became mission critical and was the only way. been looking for a jump start box that was not built in china for two years with no success. but our u.s. made jumper cables seem to be getting us by. ;-)
if the feds end up making me put health care insurance on all my people in addition to workmens comp and all the other crap we may be building our signs in ol mexico ourselves. a copy of rosetta stone and a big truck to move all the equipment south sounds better than going broke.
i told my guys that we are going to do everything we can but we have to stay competitive in a down market. some of my guys voted for "change" but seem real dissapointed now. when i told them that their free health care would result in an appropriate pay cut they were fuming. they actually believed the g-men were going to give it to them for FREE.
now they find out it is going to be my responsibility and i am going to take it out of their take home pay and boy are they mad. i actually think its kind of funny. how are ya'll going to handle fulfilling the new requirements when it filters down? you going to just add insurance and keep their salaries at current levels or you going to cut them?
or do you already give all the manual labor guys insurance? if so, how do you do that and stay competitive? we give insurance to all salaried people and have offered it to all of our hourly people where we will pay 33.3% and the other 66.6% comes out of their pay. not a single one of them has ever opted for this. they either get it through their spouses or just do without.
