I have a Gerber Saber 408 router. The bits keep slipping into the material causing problems, obviously. I have purchased and installed a new collet but are continuing to have problems. One suggestion I recieved was that the collet nut needs replacing. I'm open for more suggestions since it will be late July before I can get one from Gerber.
Hello
yes the nut for the spindel is wore out or it has a crack in it. if you can find the split in the nut take a small grinder Drummel and V-grove it and then tig-mig a spot weld just to keep it closed, till you get a new one if you clean the weld up you might keep the nut ballanced donot run this forever it will mess up the spindel but it will get you out of a jam.. the easy way to find if the nut is broke is to snug up the nut and inspect all the way around the nut if you tighten to much the nut will break in two.
Good luck
Mike
