We have a Gerber 408, the spindle motor is acting funny. It starts up then slowly drops rpm. When we try adjusting speed manually, it responds, weird, we can clic from 9000rpm to 24000 rpm in 1000 increments and it may bump up in 1000rpm increments, or we may have to bump up 3 to 4000rpm before we get a response. When we send a job its hit and miss, starts at 20000, or we get an I/O error. Tech says its the spindle motor, just wondering if anyone may have some other insight, or have experienced the same thing when thier spindle motor failed????
Hi Thanks for responding. We have eliminated the spindle as the problem. It seemed like it it coiuld have been the "Sabre profile dual serial board" card, we just replaced this morning. We still have the same problem. We are able to control the spindle speed from the control box at the back, just not able to do so from the front gerber control pad. So we have been able to continue producing with the equipment. We will be in contact with tech center again this morning to continue to diagnose the problem. Obviously between the front control pad and the rear box, we tested cables on Friday all were sendining info no problem. I was really hoping someone might have responded with a similar situation. Keep you all posted I think it woud be a good idea if there were a share centre of problems and soloutions others may have experienced it could help diagnose this situations. Not looking for a bash fest, just facts, and proceesses to soloutions.
