Is the Gerber Elan XL any good?

I purchased a Gerber Elan a month ago and I'm ready to punt it!

Print head failures up the wazoo! Just had a full on-site diagnostic by a Gerber engineer, new parts installed, upgrade to firmware the whole shebang and still running at 50% spoilage. Gerber says its running at factory specs, local service tech can't figure out what's causing the problem.

Tried using the canned profiles, custom profiles, numerous heater adjustments and so on, just can't get passed the banding and the Magenta print head failures with no apparent cause or reason such as head strikes and the like.

I've got ink deflection / ink starvation / bad alignment & nozzle checks one after the other. My Elan has serious problems and no one seems to know how to fix it.

I shoulda bough a box of crayons instead!
