This must be some bad joke Ned, though I don't agree with thier potty mouths, I do believe it is piracy, by the way Free Font Downlaod only steers you to where to buy it, the other site doesn't have it either, not even the Humanist knockoff of Frutiger, it's only 22 bucks, I think buying it is much easier.

if it shouldn't be there, maybe you should become the font police & arrange to have them removed. Although, if it was there illegally i am sure it would have been done long ago.

i won't give away/send any fonts or artwork.
but, if it can be found on the net i don't have a problem directing people to it.
people ask for help. a lot of the time it is done the wrong way ie " can someone send me "etc. no sense people being abusive, just explain & point them in the right direction.
i would be interested in the age of the ones who take the higher ground.
i have been doing this long before the advent of computers, & with the exception of the over the top fonts, that are reasonably useless anyway, most of the stuff you see are variations of what have been done by hand for many years. so maybe some of the designers who are being defended are pirates themslves... food for thought!
I think at one time or another a person has used an anauthorized font, myself included when I used to get them for print output, but learned real fast my hipocrasy when a few designs were ripped off and I started meeting type designers, that lesson taught me not to do it. Plus with way over 10k invested in fonts, I'm not about to give away what I worked my butt off to get.
I think the earlier responces were way off base, and a simple, "I won't send a protected font but you can buy it here....." would have been all they needed to get the point across.
I have been doing this for a while too, and there is really nothing new, that doesn't meant that design is dead or should be tottaly copied, but it can be interpreted differently. Take for instance Frutiger, you can tell the difference between Hevetica, Akzidenz, Univer, Aviner, Franklin, Futura, Frutiger, 20th Century, Gill, Avant Garde, and Dinn...but to a regular Joe Blow, they will probably not notice, uness it was done bad. Even slight, those variences give us a better choice and in some cases makes or breaks the design.
On a side note, Frutiger should be a must have in every signpersons computer, it was specificaly designed for signage. If Bob purchased the whole Frutiger family, it will get used.
