Combining the strengths of three welding processes
Thermadyne® (St. Louis, MO) is announcing the Thermal Arc® Fabricator® 252i, a three-in-one, arc-welding tool. It is designed for use with various alloys, steel, stainless steel and aluminum, and can be run using a generator with at least 6.6 kW of power. It weighs 66 lbs. and has a 5- to 300-amp output range for steel up to ½ in. thick.
The company reports that it combined metal-inert-gas (MIG) welding, stick welding and tungsten-inert-gas (TIG) welding to leverage the strengths of each process: high productivity from MIG, precision from TIG, and immunity from wind when stick welding. In addition, the company recommends stick welding for dirty or rusty metals.
The welder is intended for light-industrial fabrication and construction, and comes with a 250-amp TWECO® Spray Master® MIG gun; a TWECO WeldSkill® 200-amp, stick, electrode holder; and a Victor® EDGE® regulator.
