Features a registration-pin system along one axis
Polytype America (Mahwah, NJ) introduced its SwissQprint line of UV-cure, flatbed- hybrid printers -- the Oryx and the Impala -- that feature Konica-Minolta KM-512 printheads, which produce 14-pl primary drops for binary or grayscale (14-, 28-, or 42-pl) printing. Both UV-cure, flatbed inkjet printers will produce user-selectable 720 x 360- or 720 x 720-dpi resolution, but SwissQprint claims apparent resolution of up to 1,200 dpi.
The Impala has double the nozzles and printheads (per color) as the Oryx, 2,048, compared to the 1,024 model. Both print 4- or 6-color process, in addition to white and varnish. They also feature an agitation mechanism to keep the white ink pigments suspended.
Additionally, the SwissQprint vacuum beds provide a registration-pin system along one axis. The print platforms will support substrates that measure up to 2 in. thick and weight up to 880 lbs. Both hybrids can carry rigid substrates on their 99 in. x 59 in. vacuum beds and, with side extensions, materials up to 99 x 157 in.
