Conventional wisdom might dictate that people don’t read newspapers anymore, but tell that to El País, the renowned Uruguayan newspaper that put the world at readers’ feet during a recent redesign. To announce the redesign to the public, the newspaper asked digital printer Ceiprin S.A. to create 10,764 sq. ft. of white vinyl mounted on high-tack blackout vinyl. This was laminated to nonskid, matte material 200 microns thick to mask ground irregularity so readers wouldn’t trip as they caught up on the day’s news.
