Zeon Corp. (Louisville, CO), which makes neon, LED and sustainable, custom-designed POS displays and signs, matched the unconventional persona of Dogfish Head brewing company with a “steampunk” back-bar clock. The clock debuted at the Brewers Assn.'s Craft Brewers Conference in Chicago in April.
“Dogfish Head is all about making off-centered beers for off-centered people, so we wanted an off-centered POS sign to reflect that,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish’s founder and president.
Working with the client’s request to develop a Steampunk clock, the Zeon design team developed a concept for a display that incorporates hallmark Steampunk elements -- vintage metals and steam-power-themed mechanicals and gauges -- combined with the design and craftsmanship typical of Victorian Era. It also incorporates LED lighting. To focus attention on the brewer’s continually hopped beers, an illuminated dial denotes different hopping times.
The finished POS sign, from initial concept through prototype iterations, took a year to complete and is now available (www.zeon.com).
