For the uninitiated (and sometimes locals as well), NYC subways can be difficult to navigate. But Graphic Systems Group (GSG), NYC, has devised floor-graphic compasses to help even the greenest subway riders find their way to the street as part of the Grand Central Partnership.

Each sidewalk decal displays the street name and what street lies one block in each direction. There are currently decals at locations from 42nd to 53rd Sts.

“The decals were produced on a HP 9000 plotter and imaged onto 3M concrete vinyl wrapping,” GSG President Ken Madsen said. The compasses are skid- and peel-resistant because of an aggressive adhesive and a polycarbonate overlaminate.
