Mimaki’s JV5-320S grand-format, solvent inkjet printer is now available in a 320DS model for direct-sublimation printing via a modification kit that, Mimaki said, includes a gutter for ink runoff that penetrates through loosely woven material, such as flag or mesh media. The JV5-320DS uses eco-friendly aqueous inks and a direct-dye, sublimation-printing process that applies ink directly to the substrate and, in a separate process, heat-sets the ink into the material. This process eliminates transfer paper, thus transfer-paper waste and other inefficiencies. The JV5-320DS was designed to produce banners, flags, POP, tradeshow fabric graphics and the soft-signage market.
