Design Board foamboard
Jasper Plastics (Syracuse, NY) offers one foamboard product, Design Board®. The company says this tough, weather-resistant product is completely waterproof and can be routed, carved and sandblasted. Designed to resist insects, mildew, cracking, warp, decay and rot, Design Board comes in three densities: 10, 15 and 18 lbs. per cubic ft.
This foamboard can be painted with water- or solvent-based paints (some surface filling may be required), and the company reports it may substitute for wood, aluminum, wax or steel, and worked with conventional woodworking and carving chisels.
Chlorinated solvents should not be used with this product.
