The 2010 ISA Fall Conference & Tabletop Tradeshow will take place at the Eastland Suites Hotel in Bloomington, IL, Wednesday, September 22 to Thursday, September 23, sponsored by the Illinois Sign Assn. and the International Sign Assn.
The program will include a tour of the Walldog Mural and Sign Art Museum and the Route 66 Museum, both in nearby Pontiac, II. Our bus will be traveling on parts of the “Nostalgic Old Route 66.” The ISA Auction and the 2010 Sign Design awards will also be presented.
Pontiac’s 19 outdoor murals depict its local commercial, cultural and political history. Most are within one to two blocks of the Walldog and Route 66 museums. The largest mural is the Route 66 shield found on the back of the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum. The other 18 murals were recently painted by the Walldogs, who came to town in June 2009. The more than 150 artists painted the entire set of 18 murals in just four days.
The deadline for reserving rooms at the Eastland Suites is August 31. Special group rates may not be available after that date. Room choices include a single room with a standard size bed for only $79 per night; double rooms with two standard size beds for $89; and King Suites with one king size bed, a kitchen and a patio or balcony for $99.
Topics for the business sessions include solar-power signage, new EPA requirements for paint, the latest on UL and whether digital signs are always the best choice. The expanded Supplier Showcase will feature representatives from sign industry suppliers giving five to 10-minute presentations.
The money raised by annual silent auction, to be held Wednesday, September 22 after the Banquet Dinner, helps fund the association’s educational and outreach programs.
