Sirius integrates an LED backlight, cooling system and optical enhancements.
Global Display Solutions (GDS), Rockford, IL, with headquarters in Vicenza, Italy, is premiering Sirius, a line of high-brightness LCD displays for digital signage and public information displays. The LED backlight can reach 4,000 cd/sq. meter by using high efficiency, white, power LEDs. An LED backlight also saves a reported 40% power savings compared to CCFL backlights. A twin cooling system maintains optimal temperature levels. The company’s proprietary G-Bond technology improves image contrast in bright environments and strengthens the TFT panel by bonding a 6-8mm-thick, anti-vandal glass. Therefore, the display can use different panels to accommodate various customer requests. The series initially includes 65- and 46-in. models.
