A Daktronics (Brookings, SD) integrated video, scoring and advertising display system helped open the inaugural season for the Winston-Salem Dash, a minor-league baseball team, at BB&T Ballpark in downtown Winston-Salem, NC, this past spring.
A 40 x 27-ft. LED video display soars over the rightfield fence. The videoboard can operate as an independent display that shows single, large images or can be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show statistics, information, graphics, animations, and live and recorded video. Dash fans are also informed of game in progress information by a Daktronics scoreboard with low-power, high-brightness LED digits and programmable team-name displays.
In leftfield, Daktronics provided a 184-ft.-wide, digital, LED fence display that offers full-color crowd prompts, advertisements, up-to-the-minute scores and statistics, and video clips on an impact-resistant screen. The new fence display is one of only a handful in minor league baseball.
The integrated system continues outside the new ballpark with a full-color marquee display that greets, informs and entertains spectators arriving at the ballpark.
