Avery MPI 2120 vinyl applied to 15 x 15 x 15-ft. puzzle for children
For a second consecutive year, Avery Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Div. (Painesville, OH) donated more than 7,000 sq. ft. of MPI 2120 Matte Permanent vinyl to the 2009 Destination ImagiNation Global Finals, the world’s largest creative problem-solving program for children.
The conference hosted more than 1,000 international teams of elementary and middle-school-age children, who participated in problem-solving challenges that promote teamwork, creative thinking and personal fitness. The 2009 Destination ImagiNation Global Finals ran from May 20-23, 2009, at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Grafix Solutions (Sayreville, NJ) printed graphics on Avery High Performance Calendered MPI 2120 matte vinyl and wrapped 125 individual cubes that were used in the annual “Power Cube Challenge.” The challenge was part of the Global Finals’ closing ceremony, when teams assembled the 15 x 15 x 15 ft. puzzle cube for the National Dairy Council’s “Fuel Up” Challenge.
“The competition offers children the opportunity to challenge their minds in a fun, interactive way while also building their leadership skills,” said Tom Durner, manager of strategic alliances for the Avery division. “Our donation reflects Avery Dennison's commitment to helping young students develop creative problem solving skills, learn teamwork and build leadership skills.”
Avery MPI 2120 Matte Permanent is a high performance calendered vinyl ideal for wall murals, floor graphics, POP and tradeshow applications. For more information about the 2009 Destination ImagiNation Global Finals, please visit www.idodi.org.
Students in more than 40 countries participated in Destination ImagiNation®. This popular process-based program helps young people build lifelong skills in creative and critical thinking, teamwork, time management and problem solving.
Up to seven participants work together as a team for eight to twelve weeks to create their unique solution to a Team Challenge, which can have a focus that is theatrical, structural, improvisational, scientific or technical - or a blend of several disciplines.
Teams also learn and practice creative quick-thinking skills for the Instant Challenge portion of the program. Destination ImagiNation helps young people learn in a fun and supportive environment, and the valuable skills they have acquired will be with them for a lifetime.
Participants learn unique and critical life skills including teamwork, critical and creative thinking, project management, resource management, mutual respect, research and presentation skills and, as all challenges must be strictly team-solved, self-reliance. These skills make Destination ImagiNation participants more valuable to their communities and as future employees.
